Company: Lawrence Livermore National Lab

FlashCut Equipment:  FlashCut CNC 7300 Mill

Description:  The National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Lab in Livermore, CA USA is on the brink of making scientific history. In February of 2010 they will attempt to create energy from fusion for the first time on earth.  Fusion is the process the sun uses to make energy.

This $3.5B facility was built around a tiny flask, the ignition chamber, where fusion of two hydrogen atoms into one helium atom will take place. When it came to making the fingers that will hold the ignition chamber (shown above), LLNL trusted the FlashCut CNC 7300.  They chose the FlashCut mill for its precision, reliability, low cost and ease of use.

LLNL Uses FlashCut for Making Precision Parts for Historic $3.5B Fusion Project
